About Rev. Laurie Sue
Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway is a leading interfaith and non-denominational wedding officiant and widely recognized expert on blended marriages and bridal stress. She is author of 12 books, including Wedding Goddess: A Divine Guide to Transforming Wedding Stress into Wedding Bliss (Perigee Books, May 2005).
She is a creative and contemporary clergywoman who serves the needs of modern brides and grooms. Her couples often hail from different backgrounds and faiths, or feel disconnected from the religion of their birth, so she takes on the challenge of uniting them in marriage while blending and bringing healing to their families. She is known for her warm, loving and creative approach to blessing couples of all backgrounds and faiths, and for guiding them on their journey to the altar and beyond.
New York Magazine lists her as one of New York’s most outstanding officiants. Consumer reporter and radio host Joan Hamburg recommends her in City Weddings. The New York Press cited her as “The Best of Manhattan.”
Long devoted to empowering women to reclaim their self-esteem and celebrate their feminine spirit, she leads workshops, women’s circles, bridal support groups and “Goddess Nights.” She also provides spiritual counseling for couples and for brides individually.
She helped establish, and co-led, the NYC branch of The Bridal Survival Club and she is founder of the annual Wedding Goddess Blessing of the Brides in Central Park. She is on the Advisory Board of the I Do Foundation.
Prior to becoming a minister she was a journalist for 20 years. In her colorful media career she was editor-in-chief of two national magazines, as well as editor of several regional publications. She also ran her own news service and served major dailies. Her articles have appeared hundreds of newspapers and magazines, including: NY Daily News, Newsday, Boston Globe, Atlanta Constitution, Philadelphia Inquirer, Pittsburgh Post Gazette, San Antonio News Express, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Buffalo News, Miami Herald, Denver Post, Chicago Sun-Times, Washington Post, The Oklhoman, and many other major dailies, as well as syndicated via Reuters and London features. She also worked with Child, Family Fun, Ladies Home Journal, Woman’s World, Women's News, Playgirl and Single Living.
A born communicator, she blends her skills and experience as a Media Goddess with the wisdom culled from her work as the Wedding Goddess.
She is currently a columnist for New York Woman, HitchNY.com, Wedlok.com , SoulfulLiving.com and Meridith Viera’s ClubMom.com. In addition, her articles are widely syndicated in Internet and regional publications.
She is regularly called upon by media as a spokesperson on interfaith marriage, ceremonies and customs, bridal stress, soulful relationships and women’s empowerment. She has been interviewed by The New York Times, Newsweek, USA TODAY, Associated Press, Modern Bride, Bridal Guide, Wedding Dress Magazine, The Bridal Book, New York Magazine, NY Daily News, Newsday, Inside Edition, Eye Witness News, WE Network and others.
